As a first-generation student, creativity has often served as a refuge from the other unchosen responsibilities I shoulder.
Initially pursuing Computational Neuroscience, I sheltered my creative urges to fulfill a pre-med archetype, under the impression that this was one of the only “acceptable” ways to break a generational struggle.
At the end of my second year at USC, I have since switched to Cognitive Science with minors in AI Applications and Designing for Digital Experiences. I’m continuing to learn that success and impact lies not in traditional, preset roles, but anywhere that lies passion and effort.
I am continuing to embrace my urge to create, specifically through UI/UX design, by surrounding myself with more skilled creatives and binging Figma and Framer how-to tutorials on YouTube. I’m excited to bring the leadership skills from my various communities to a newfound professional space, learning from others who teach me how to be a better designer, creative and leader—and to break through a generational struggle for more people than just myself.
